IPL Auction: Shreyas Iyer Seals DC Deal, but KKR Eyeing RTM Strategy – Report
IPL Auction
2024:
Despite Leading KKR to Trophy Glory, Shreyas Iyer Faces Non-Retention—Will They
Use RTM?
These
days, almost every rumor pertaining to IPL auctions is news. According to an
unverified report in Cricbuzz, former KKR captain Shreyas Iyer may be headed to
DC, his former team. At this year's IPL Retentions, DC showed Rishabh Pant the
exit door while KKR fired Iyer. The "deal going through" between the
IPL-winning captain and DC is also discussed in the paper.
KKR vs DC for Shreyas Iyer?
Naturally,
though, nothing is certain despite the agreement because all other teams will
be competing as well. Most significantly, KKR can use RTM on Shreyas Iyer, who
still has INR 51 Cr in his purse. According to the source, KKR is considering
RTMing their captain, but this will all depend on how much money the team has
left over. On the other hand, DC has 73 Cr left in their purse and is in a
better position to get him.
There
may be more teams in the running as well. PBKS, who are searching for a
reliable captain and have INR 110 Cr left in their pocket, might be one of the
contenders. Since they have hired Ricky Ponting as their head coach, who gets
along well with Shreyas Iyer at DC, the odds might be considered strong.
IPL Auction 2025
For
the record, Iyer has been the IPL captain since 2018 and is an experienced
player. He has won 38 and lost 29 of his 70 games as a leader so far. His win
percentage now stands at 54, which is among the highest in the IPL. Please
remember that the IPL Auction is scheduled for November 24 and 25 in Jeddah.
