IPL Auction Recap:
KKR Renews Shreyas Iyer for ₹21 Cr, Arshdeep Singh Rejoins PBKS for ₹16 Cr
The IPL Auction
always generates a lot of excitement among fans, and the recent auction
continued that trend. Here are some of the key highlights:
Shreyas Iyer to KKR:
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) re-signed star batsman Shreyas Iyer for a
whopping ₹21 crore. Iyer, who had a significant impact in previous seasons, is
expected to strengthen KKR's batting lineup and provide leadership both on and
off the field.
Arshdeep Singh back
to PBKS: Fast bowler Arshdeep Singh returned to Punjab Kings (PBKS) for ₹16
crore. Known for his impressive performances in the last few seasons,
especially in the death overs, Arshdeep’s retention is vital for PBKS as they
aim to improve their bowling attack.
In
addition, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) demonstrated their dedication to
bolstering their team by re-signing Shreyas Iyer for ₹21 crore. In the
meantime, Arshdeep Singh will rejoin PBKS for ₹16 crore, giving their bowling
assault more depth.
The
auction demonstrated fierce rivalry and calculated choices made by teams
looking to assemble their best teams for the forthcoming campaign. The next
phase of these players' careers, the IPL 2025, is now highly anticipated by
fans.
Arshdeep
Singh and Shreyas Iyer will return to their respective IPL 2024 teams. Yes,
according to the IPL 2025 Auction War room that Jio Cinema aired. A fictitious
IPL auction has been organized by the official IPL 2025 broadcasters. With all
ten franchises competing against one another in Jeddah on November 24 and 25,
the actual IPL 2025 super auction is only a short distance away.

KKR swoop in Shreyas Iyer for Rs 21 crore
Sanjay
Bangar, the former Director of Cricket at PBKS, represented the Kolkata Knight
Riders (KKR). Shreyas Iyer, who was let go by the team at IPL 2025 Retentions,
was replaced by Bangar. KKR, who won their third IPL championship under Iyer's
leadership, made an unexpected decision. In the meantime, Aakash Chopra's Delhi
Capitals were adamant with Iyer at the IPL Auction War Room. DC clearly needed
a captain, and they made every effort. At Rs 11 crore, the Lucknow Super Giants
(LSG) also joined in.
Since
KKR offered the highest sum of Rs 21 crore at the simulated auction, they
ultimately won the bid. KKR was persistent enough to begin bidding at Rs 13
crore. Regarding the actual mega auction, it may not be easy for KKR to re-sign
Iyer. The three-time champions may see fierce competition from other teams
given their Rs 51 crore auction prize and lack of a Right to Match (RTM) card.
Iyer
has had an incredible career with KKR. A back injury kept him out of the 2023
season after he joined the squad as captain in 2022, but he returned strongly
in 2024 to help the team win their third IPL championship. His individual
performance was equally spectacular, amassing 351 runs at a remarkable rate of
146.86 and an average of 39 in 14 innings.
Arshdeep RTMed by PBKS for Rs 13 crore
Iyer
was not the only Indian bowler to return to his former team. The Mumbai Indians
(MI), the joint-most successful IPL team, paid Rs 12 crore for Arshdeep Singh,
who is probably the most expensive Indian bowler in Jeddah. Robin Uthappa, a
former player, represented MI. The Punjab Kings (PBKS), with their enormous
expenditure of Rs 110.50cr, then, predictably, used the RTM rule to reclaim
Arshdeep for Rs 13.00cr.
It
came as a huge surprise when PBKS released Arshdeep, who has been a star
performer not only for them but for the nation. In the IPL, the left-arm
speedster has garnered 76 wickets at an incredible strike rate of 17.95. Apart
from this, PBKS also bought Jos Buttler for Rs 13.50 crore. Moreover, the
costliest player at this mock auction was Rishabh Pant, who was sold for a
mountainous Rs 33 crore.
